Who We Are.
The British Army Benevolent Fund America aims to support the Army
Benevolent, a UK Registered Charity, No. 211645.
The Army Benevolent Fund (ABF) is the British soldiers’
charity. Since the end of World War II we have provided financial
support and practical advice to soldiers, former soldiers and
their families in time of need.
Why We Exist.
The ABF provides help when state assistance is inapplicable or
unable to meet the immediate need. Corps and Regimental Benevolent
Funds and other smaller Service Charities also rely on the ABF
for support.
Who We Help.
Every year the charity dispenses around $4.5 million
in grants to individuals in need. Each case is considered on its
own merit but the need can range from an electric wheelchair for
a soldier’s disabled son or a stair lift for an injured
former soldier to care home fees for a World War II veteran or
a much needed holiday for a war widow and her young children.
Another $4.5 million a year is given to smaller charities that
look after the special needs of the British Army community.
Why We Need Help.
Each year the Army Benevolent Fund needs to raise around $11 million
to continue its work with members of the British “Army Family”
who urgently need help. The need never diminishes.
